Link about lab grown meat! (it exists, just not cost efficient or out for the public yet)

I totally support this, btw. I really, really don't want to see any live animals with brains and emotions and such being killed for food (please don't leave me comments making fun of vegetarians, I am one, and it's not a stupid concern!), but I don't think humans all the world over will be willing to give up meat anytime soon, so.... I think this is a great idea! It would be safer, you could avoid various scary disease, you could maybe grow it in your fridge, get rid of various inefficiencies like transport, you wouldn't be hurting an animal... it sounds better! Is there anyone who would say no that that? Well, I still don't want any myself, I'm personally really repulsed by the entire idea of meat... ^^;; Anyway! I want this to be available!

He's from the University of Missouri. Very cool! Thanks for sharing this. I actually had no idea that something like this was so close to being realized. I hope that it's able to become available to a wider audience and at a much lower price over time. This is definitely something I think my brother would be interested in too.

Yeah, he is! I think it's a great idea and that's what I'm hoping too. :)

If they can make this viable, I'd be for it! I'm not a vegetarian because I love meat too much, though I am an animal advocate (sometimes to an absurd degree) so this would be a perfect fit for me. Still eating meat without feeling guilty? Sign me up!

I honestly think a lot of people feel like that and would like this as a solution. :)

I... would probably convert to strict vegetarianism before I considered that idea. (Currently I'm a lax pescatarian who will occasionally eat chicken. But seriously, the idea of lab grown meat turns my stomach, which is theoretically also a good thing? Because if it ever came down to lab grown meat vs no meat at all, I'd be in the latter camp with no hesitation. And sooner or later, we WILL run out of animals to farm.)

Oh really? There is a restaurant not far from me which had sort of a science/lab theme and various dishes that would be hard to make in a conventional kitchen... is it like that whole concept of lab + food seeming unappealing to you? That would make sense to me as I certainly don't feel like eating at all if I imagine how my grade school science classroom smelled. XD But yeah I agree with that and think feeding the population is certainly an environmental issue which we will have to address somehow.

It's not so much that as the idea of "grown in a lab". I'm happy to eat food 'cooked' in nitro and that kind of extreme gastronomy that Gordon Ramsay is so fond of, but ... yeah, growing meats in a lab, that crosses a line I'm not prepared to deal with xD So I'd just switch to a pure vegetarian diet, and we're all happy!
