Please talk to me here if you would like to be added to my friends list. I'd like to know a little about you before I add you (like what we have in common, perhaps)!

Some random facts about me:

1. LGBTI civil rights and gender equality are important to me.
2. I'm agnostic.
3. I love kitties! <3
4. I love art.
5. I'm childfree. Strongly pro-choice, also.
6. I'm interested in various books/games/anime/tv series (usually fantasy or sci fi or horror), ancient history, psychology/social sciences, and economics.
7. I am interested in ethics. Perhaps the closest thing to my way of thinking would be some form of hedonistic act utilitarianism (the most ethical action is the one that brings the most happiness, and the least suffering), but I'm also fond of elements of social justice theory (human rights) and virtue theory (if only a jerk would do X, don't do X).
8. I'm Myers Briggs type INTP.
9. I'm vegetarian for ethical reasons. (Most of my friends are not, though.)
10. I'd be a Slytherin in the Harry Potter world.
11. I'm not super political, but I'm Socialist.

You can probably figure out from that if we'd get along or not. For the most part, I don't bite! :P

Thanks!

I really need to get caught up on here. :x I just went through and deleted a couple of old journals that I saw hadn’t been used in years, and also in one case, removed someone who recently posted an article about transgender people that looked very medically wrong to me and was really offensive for multiple reasons. If I've removed anyone by mistake, you can PM me.

Oooh, love was telling me that apparently Steam has Left 4 Dead for free today, meaning if you can download it today you can own the game for free!

But the servers keep crashing due to the mass interest, so you might have to try multiple times to open the link, and get your copy. :)

If you need to create a Steam account, go here (again you might have to refresh a few times if the server is overloaded):

It is a zombie shooting game, where you play with a team. It is really fun! :P

Link about lab grown meat! (it exists, just not cost efficient or out for the public yet)
http://www.cnn.com/2012/08/13/tech/innovation/lab-grown-meat

I totally support this, btw. I really, really don't want to see any live animals with brains and emotions and such being killed for food (please don't leave me comments making fun of vegetarians, I am one, and it's not a stupid concern!), but I don't think humans all the world over will be willing to give up meat anytime soon, so.... I think this is a great idea! It would be safer, you could avoid various scary disease, you could maybe grow it in your fridge, get rid of various inefficiencies like transport, you wouldn't be hurting an animal... it sounds better! Is there anyone who would say no that that? Well, I still don't want any myself, I'm personally really repulsed by the entire idea of meat... ^^;; Anyway! I want this to be available!

Unpacking is taking me considerably longer than I thought it would! I guess I was overly optimistic about how simple it would be. Moving furniture around by yourself is a little difficult! Particularly with boxes everywhere. And since my stuff was sitting for so long it got dusty, so a lot of it had to be cleaned as I went. U.U I'm allergic to dust so there was a lot of sneezing. LOL XD Well hopefully I can at least get finished up this weekend? I'm so tired of moving, enough with all this moving, damn. XD

PS: I've been so busy I literally haven't even been on the internet, so my apologies if I've missed anything!

Join us in standing up for reproductive health and education. Planned Parenthood, the organization that delivers reproductive health care, sex education and information to millions of people worldwide, has come under fire in the U.S. lately, with many politicians on both state and federal level seeking to end funding (and in a few cases succeeding).

During the month of May, you can send a specially designed Planned Parenthood vgift to your friends to help support this cause. (And if you need someone to send it to, [livejournal.com profile] frank is always happy to receive gifts!) There are three variations ($1, $5 and $10) for you to choose from, but they'd all look good on your profile when your friends know that you stand by something so important.

Thank you all for your help in our support for Planned Parenthood. This promotion ends June 1, 2012; LiveJournal is not affiliated with Parent Parenthood. For more information about Planned Parenthood, please visit: http://www.plannedparenthood.org/

Freedom of speech should be considered extremely important for everyone, and that is one thing that should "go without saying"!

After talking about maybe doing some not "fan art" art.... I was trying to pick a color palette for painting Vishnu, like he would usually look outside of BSSM fandom.... here's first idea --- this time I tried a blue that really had some turquoise to it, and violet/purple for lips and such, thinking, well, if you put red blood under blue skin, it would probably look more of a purple color? I think I'll keep trying a couple ways and see what actually looks good... like, just using darker blues for the lips, lighter/darker blue for skin... until I can compare and pick how to make him look, that works...

If you are interested in a winter theme/holiday card, here's my post for signing up! I actually enjoy snail mail and have even been known to occasionally mail people treats or cookies. Or, random plastic crap out of quarter machines, I'm a bit quirky like that. XD

But I am kind of absent minded and sometimes lose addresses and get confused where I put them, so, I'm thinking that putting into one place might be a good idea!

Card List/General Address Book

Name:
Address:
Card type: Winter theme, or what holiday/s you celebrate?
Birthday (if you like cards, and I remember, I've actually forgotten my own before!):
Do you have a wish list?: Link!
Notes: Like, "I'm vegan" or "I'm allergic to pine nuts!" or "I do like cards but, please, no silly presents!" or "I think you look like a walrus!" You know, whatever might be on your mind. :D

It does not matter if you are local or international. :D
Also, I am not at all thinking about getting a card back, so don't worry about that! :P

Originally posted by [livejournal.com profile] kleine_teekanne at Protect Women's Rights in Mississippi: Sign the petition to help stop Amendment 26!

On November 8th, Mississippi will vote on whether or not to accept the following anti-choice amendment: "The term 'person' or 'persons' shall include every human being from the moment of fertilization, cloning, or the functional equivalent thereof."

However, this initiative—known as Amendment 26 or the "personhood amendment"—isn't just a matter of outlawing abortion in Mississippi or a vehicle to challenge Roe vs. Wade. If passed, this legislation will have many other far-reaching effects such as banning most or possibly all forms of birth control, banning some forms of infertility treatment, and opening the door to bringing criminal charges against women who have a miscarriage.

In a further effort to gain attention and spread information, a petition directed at the Attorney General of Mississippi (who is presently in favor of Amendment 26) has been created here:

Mississippi Attorney General’s Office: Stop the policing of women's bodily autonomy - Stop Amendment 26!

From the petition: "The reproductive and bodily rights of women should not be policed. Critical birth control medication should not be taken from any women - especially since birth control can have other important health effects and benefits aside from contraception. A miscarriage should not be equated to the murder of a child. Abortion should remain legal - and safe. This amendment is dangerous, radical thinking that prioritizes the rights of a fetus over the rights of born, living women everywhere."

Show your support for a woman's right to her own body: please click the link above and sign the petition to support stopping Amendment 26!

Further Resources:
Wake Up Mississippi - a grassroots movement started by Jackson Women’s Health Organization has information available on their website as well as a link to help donate to their efforts. Among other efforts, they are currently trying to get billboards up to help spread the truth about Amendment 26. Also, if you happen to have a Facebook account, please give them some Likes at their FB page.

Parents Against MS 26 is another good page that is particularly informative about how Amendment 26 could negatively affect infertility treatments. They also have a donation link set up.

The article Occupy My Uterus. My Ass! Fertilized Eggs Are NOT People! at the Daily Kos gives an in-depth explanation as well.

The Mississippi State Medical Association (MSMA) speaks out against Amendment 26 too!

I just clicked a button to re-post, but, I think this is really, really important --- a cell is not a person. It is not self aware, no thoughts, no feelings, nothing. We cannot override actual human beings for foolishly misplaced sympathies. And even if it were a person (which is possibly the stupidest thing I have ever heard), I don't believe it's right to tell one person they have to endure medical conditions or procedures against their will to save someone else. It is only a culture of misogyny that puts these things up for debate as though it were reasonable. :(

There is a kind of... a kitten wanting to come in my house right now... it's a very little grey tabby... I saw the kitten looking in my windows earlier this week so I've been sitting out food for him/her and is so thrilled after breakfast his morning, wants in the door... should I? I know a new kitten would have to go to the vet ASAP because I could not risk my kitty's health with letting in a stray and not checking for diseases, but, do I need a kitten?

Edit: Adorable tiny kitten has now been sleeping curled up against the door for 2 hours... ohhh, fffffuuu.... T.T This is how I ended up with my previous cats.

Edit again: This post is useless without pics!

Little darling! Y u keep running around when I open door?! T.T

This is my Bunny striking a pose, from last week or so. He says I cannot leave him out of a post about cats, because, he's mah baby. :3
